Melville Occupational Therapy and Extra Lesson for Children is a well-established OT private practice with over 20 years’ experience working with children and their families.

The role of the Paediatric Occupational Therapist is to provide Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention which will involve:

  • Administering assessments for new clients and completing reports and recommended therapy plans
  • In partnership with the parent / teacher developing functional goals for the client to increase their ability to engage in their everyday occupations of self-care, productivity, and play/leisure
  • Providing appropriate occupational therapy intervention to children aged between 0 and 18 years within either the clinic, kinder, childcare, home or school environment
  • Providing consultation and input to the client’s multidisciplinary team as requested, by attending meetings with parents, teachers, allied health team, by providing consultancy or opinion to assist the child in the kinder/school/community environment

Skills and experience

Melville OT is seeking candidates who can demonstrate initiative and flexibility, are prepared to grow and are team players who work in an organised and effective manner. They must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

The applicants are required to demonstrate experience in paediatrics in the area of sensory-based intervention, use of standardised assessments, clinical observation, understanding of developmental stages, and how to facilitate motor and psychosocial skills.

We welcome a graduate who is keen to develop their skills in the above areas and see paediatrics as a career path. The applicants will be able to apply theory to practice in relation to the child and the environment, and understanding of evidence-based practice They will demonstrate an understanding of disability and NDIS.
