The annual OT Week Breakfast is the flagship event of the WA Occupational Therapy Association calendar. It is an opportunity for OTs to come together and celebrate the wonderful Occupational Therapy profession as a group. It is a great way to catch up with colleagues from university days or previous workplaces and a great place to meet new friends!
Each year, WAOTA invites a guest speaker to attend the Breakfast, with the aim of offering a personal perspective on Occupational Therapy and reigniting the passion for OT that inspires us to do what we do! This year WAOTA has the pleasure of inviting the Hon Helen Morton as our guest speaker.
Keynote Speaker: Hon Helen Morton
Keynote Address: Staying at Home
Staying at Home”, developed in Pingelly by the community over the past 3 years, will enable older people and those with disability to remain living at home in the rural community they love, without hospitals or residential facilities, amongst neighbours that look out for them, connected to family, friends and country until end of life – even if they need care at a nursing home level.
Staying at home has five inextricably linked component parts – place based accommodation options for all needs; access to all currently funded home based services from the State and Commonwealth Governments; a ‘virtual village’; locally grown workforce and community capacity; and, competent research, evaluation and validation of methodology. The keynote address will highlight the establishment of the ‘virtual village’.
Breakfast includes some great prizes and giveaways, so we hope to see you all there!
