Triple P Positive Parenting; What it is and what it isn’t

August 10, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Date: Tuesday, 10th August 2021
Time: 6.30pm
Presenter: Leigh Dix

Topic: Triple P Positive Parenting; What it is and what it isn’t

Triple P-positive parenting is a flexible, evidence-based, multilevel, preventively oriented parenting and family support strategy developed by the Matthew Sanders and his colleagues at the University of Queensland. The program aims to prevent severe behavioral, emotional, and developmental problems in children by enhancing the knowledge, skills, and confidence of parents. This presentation will discuss the many delivery formats and variations of Triple P, as well as discussing Triple P strategies, including the use of quiet time and time out. What does it mean to discipline a child?  And where do these practices fit in the debate around child mental health, attachment, trauma and restrictive practice?

Leigh Dix, an accredited Triple P practitioner for the past 25 years, is uniquely positioned within the Health and Disability Services sectors to discuss this topic.
