This workshop will be suitable for all clinical levels. Later year students (4th year students or 2ndyear Masters of OT students) may also attend.

About the presenter :-

 Dr Wales is an experienced occupational therapist having worked in the area of disability, acute healthcare, home modifications, falls prevention, and low vision and blindness services. Dr Wales’s current research is reimagining how clinicians assess clients’ individual occupational therapy needs, helping to improve their safety and life outcomes. Dr Wales focuses on exploring how better assessment helps inform occupational therapy practice, allowing for individualised therapy plans, focused service delivery and in turn cost-effective practice. Dr Wales is an expert in the application of the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments having conducted multiple systematic reviews on a range of standardised assessments.  Dr Wales is also interested in innovative service delivery for older adults and creating work-ready occupational therapists in residential aged care settings through student-led clinics. Recently, Dr Wales was acknowledged as a leading early career researcher by Occupational Therapy Australia receiving the 2021 Early Career Researcher Award and as University of Newcastle’s up-and-coming researchers when she was invited to participate in the University’s ThinkWell Early and Mid-Career Women’s Development Program.
