Neurology and Anatomy of the Upper Limb (lets get hands on !) – Associate Professor Anthony Pohl – Friday November 30th

We are very excited to have Associate Professor Anthony Pohl give a repeat course on Neurology and Anatomy of the Upper Limb in November 2019.

Mr. A. P. Pohl is the Director, Orthopaedic Trauma, at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma, University of Adelaide.

He has a major interest in pelvic and acetabular fractures, external fixation and fracture healing and is actively involved in teaching, instrument design and technology.

What is unique about his courses is that he teaches with a “hands on” approach

What will you learn at the course ?

Neurology and Anatomy, but in a “hands on” fashion, with illustrations of how to examine various nerves or muscle function, and then undertaking that on “buddies”. Several “tricks” of the trade-in examination technique, and often several techniques of examining a specific muscle, or nerve (by examining that muscle) are also covered. The anatomy is covered in an intuitive matter, using principles, rules and “easy to remember” facts.

How can you apply this ?

After the course is the benefits of all the above, i.e. a new “paradigm” in the approach to and understanding of anatomy and neurology through a practical “how to do” approach.

8:30 – 9:40             Examination of nerve roots of the upper and lower limb (everything you need to  know, up to Fellowship level, in 10 easy facts i.e. the equivalent of one STD code and telephone number).

9:40 – 10:30           Neurology and anatomy of the arm

10:30 – 11:00         Morning Tea

11:00 – 12:00         Neurology and anatomy of the forearm

12:00 – 13:00         Neurology and anatomy of the shoulder

13:00 – 13:45         Lunch

13:45 – 15:45         Examination of nerves of the hand

15:45 – 16:00         Afternoon Tea

16:00 – 17:00         How to examine all the nerves of the brachial plexus/upper limb
