Permanent Extension of Occupational Therapy Telehealth Benefits
A message from HBF
Temporary benefits for telehealth services introduced by HBF were due to end on 31 December 2021. We are pleased to advise that HBF have permanently extended benefits towards certain telehealth treatment for Occupational Therapy.
Eligible members with cover for Occupational Therapy can claim benefits in line with HBF’s telehealth criteria for initial consults at least 45 minutes in length and subsequent consultations at least 30 minutes in length. Normal Waiting Periods apply.
HBF will no longer pay benefits to members for Occupational Therapy subsequent consultations between 20 to 30 minutes in length delivered via telehealth from 1 January 2022.
Reminder HBF invoice requirements to ensure telehealth claims for eligible members are processed accurately and efficiently. In addition to HBF’s standard invoicing requirements outlined in the HBF Recognised Provider Terms and Conditions, providers must issue the member with an invoice that clearly specifies:
• Telehealth item number (refer to hbf.com.au/telehealth for item numbers)
• Delivery method (i.e. video call)
• Duration (must be at least 45 minutes for an initial consult or at least 30 minutes for a subsequent consult for a benefit to be paid)
