POSITION DESCRIPTION :-
Position Purpose :-
- Plan, implement and evaluate individual client occupational therapy programs that support engagement, regulation and independence
- Work collaboratively with clients, families, administration staff, and other allied health services (psychology, counselling, speech and play therapy etc.)
- Assist parents/families to develop understanding and knowledge of the NDIS to support their ability to make informed decisions where possible
- Assess home and school environments
- Provide Psychoeducation on Interoception, Connection, sensory preferences, regulation and occupational wellbeing
- Conduct functional, developmental and sensory assessments
- Develop and write Functional Capacity Assessment reports for NDIS and other funding bodies as required
- Provide reports and evidence to support plan reviews, funding renewals, GP letters and school funding
- Collaborate with schools to improve engagement, provide teachers with strategies to improve classroom engagement and reduce stress, specifically for neurodivergent students
- Ensure all practice meets professional, organisation, legal and ethical requirements
- Undertake ongoing professional development, education and training relating to clinical practice including neurodiverse practices
- Participate in regular team meetings, supervision and ongoing training
- Collaborate and work closely with other team members, allied health teams and support co coordinators.
- Collaborate with other therapists on shared cases to support common goals
PERSON SPECIFICATION :-
What we are looking for :-
- Full Australian working rights or permanent residency
- 2 years previous OT experience, at least one-year paediatric focus
- Current AHPRA registration and relevant qualifications
- Previous experience working with individuals with complex needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience/interest in incorporating health equity and neuro-affirming practices
Additional Desirable Requirements :-
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR competency
- Police Clearance and Working With Children Check (WA)
- Valid Australian driver’s licence and willingness to use own vehicle
