Self-care for health professionals : preventing burnout 2025
May 2 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
DR MARGARET POTTER, PRINCIPAL SMART MOVES CONSULTANCY
FRIDAY MAY 2ndth, 2025 – 13:00 – 17:00
Workshop outline
Health professionals spend a great deal of their time caring for others, often do not pay enough attention to their own health and well-being – resulting in burnout. This is the result of high workload demands, and the physical and mental stresses associated with meeting patient/client care needs.
The workshop will be interactive and focused on raising awareness among participants about how to better self-care, so they are proactive, rather than reactive and managing their own health and well-being. We will focus on the following outcomes:
- Define burnout and identify key causes
- Explore the reasons why health professionals tend to be poor self-carers
- Self-assess your current level of burnout
- Discuss prevention strategies and the value of resilience
- Explore self-care areas and provide tips
