WAOTA is excited to present this month’s PD… in FORENSICS! Emily has been an OT for 8 years. Her current role is within the WA Department of Justice (DoJ). Emily has spent the last few years developing a new OT role based in Casuarina Prison (a men’s maximum-security prison) within the Mallee Rehabilitation Centre, where she supports engagement with the Solid Steps Program.
Sam has been an OT for 31 years, and currently works within the WA State Forensic Mental Health Services, primarily as an OT in Frankland Centre, but more recently as a Senior Project Officer working on projects such as the Criminal Law (Mentally Impaired Accused) Act review, where she also provides supervision and mentoring to staff (OT and AHA) working in forensic settings.
Jemma has been an OT for 10 years and currently works in a role where she provides a state-wide service to children and adults with an Intellectual Disability, Cognitive Disability and / or Autism who are interfacing with the justice system, as well as their support systems. Jemma is also involved in providing clinical support to the Disability Justice Centre; and delivering training about the disability and justice intersection to various departments.
